Larnelle Garnie
About
Larnelle Garnie, who was born in Zimbabwe and grew up in Namibia, completed her undergraduate degree in Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. She then completed her Honors in Chemistry and later pursued her PhD studies under the supervision of Dr. Kathryn Wicht and Professor Timothy Egan (late). Her studies, focused on the heme detoxification pathway in Plasmodium falciparum, aimed to develop a more in-depth understanding of the pathway. She joined the Fidock in November 2024.
Larnelle enjoys spending time with family, being outdoors and doing amateur artsy activities. She is a people’s person and receives tremendous joy from interacting with those around her.
